First Kiss [PSL] (Tails/Sunset)
Tails was the typical brainy student at his high school, and not much more than that. He was friendly, fairly outgoing, a pretty motivational and optimistic sort, and easy to make friends with. He didn't really consider himself much of a stand-out compared to the more popular students, and to be honest he was alright with that. He was already friends with practically half the school, despite still opting to be alone at night so he could tinker with mechanical stuff late into the night.
His life was turned somewhat upside down once he started dating Sunset.
It was a pretty shocking thing, to him and to his other friends - he wasn't sure where his bravery came from when he asked her out, or why he'd gone for it like he did. The last thing he wanted to do was end up making his friendship with her weird, or winding up with a rejection. But he'd done it, and there was no looking back - their first date to the movies had gone quite well, and his general uneasiness about things had started to lift.
Of course, he still wasn't entirely sure it was going to work out, but he wanted it to. Sunset was, in his mind, perfect. She was pretty, she was fun to be around, she was funny... just being near her would cause his heart to swell just a little. But the boy had never dated someone before - his first date with her being his first ever. And since this was to be their second date, he wanted it to be something different than just going to another movie. He had to make that night special and fun.
His options were rather limited, even with the things he looked up. He finally opted with a trip to the arcade, with a walk through the park and a picnic in said park after that. Whether she was very good at games or not, he wasn't sure, but he was at least fairly certain she would have fun at the arcade. All told, the date itself would definitely last at least a few hours.
Friday night was the date they'd set, one week from their previous date since the time had worked so well, and they'd meet up after classes end to go straight to the arcade. It was going to be a little busy, but he felt that it'd be alright either way.
With school finally letting out for the day, he made his way over to where they agreed to meet: right outside of the school's theatre. There, they'd have an easy path right to the arcade, even though it'd be a bit of a walk.

She could hardly believe this was real. It had been ages since she'd tried dating...the former school tyrant wasn't exactly a hot option, even with the trust she'd regained. But part of that, she'd finally been forced to see, was that she'd held herself back---the old her had seen romance as merely a tool for gaining power, a silly emotion used for manipulation. She'd sworn it off with the rest of her past self.
But somehow, the sweet genius had smashed through all the walls she'd built around her heart. Somehow, that winning smile had made her hope that it could be okay. That it wouldn't hurt this time---that they would be okay, no matter what happened. She just had to relax and have some faith once in a while.
"Hey Tails," she called, hustling over to him with a wide smile. "Ready to battle for the top score in Termineightor 2?"

"You bet!" He began to walk with her towards the arcade. "Hopefully there won't be a long line this time."
no subject
"Hey, and there are plenty of other games---though I don't think you want to see me try to dance again. That was a pretty nasty fall."
no subject
"It's always more fun playing the harder games with someone though. Especially the cooperative ones. It's a nightmare trying to beat them by yourself. At least, as long as friendly fire is off." He laughed a little again. Friendly fire was a cooperative team's worst nightmare - even the most coordinated people could mess everything up with a stray hit.

It was nice to say that. Much nicer than before, anyway.

It didn't take much longer for them to reach the arcade, and he couldn't help showing his excitement as they made their way inside, beelining for the Termineightor 2 cabinet.
"Ready to play?"
no subject
"Ready! Don't worry, I've got your back!"
no subject
"Let's do it!"
no subject
"Uh...thinking we should stop here. I want to make sure we can still have dessert! But that was a great game."
He'd won, of course. She'd give credit where credit was due.

"It was pretty great, huh? Okay, let's grab some food. Where do you wanna go?"

Sunset eagerly led the way, slipping back to keep pace with him...and link arms. Why not?
The place was smaller than the big, bright café her friends usually frequented on the way to school. This one was below ground and dimly lit, but in a cool, artistic way. She smiled and gave her usual order.
"Everything's good here. They'll whip up almost anything you want."
no subject
He took a little bit to decide, but found something that he was pretty sure he'd like, and ordered it. He wasn't really fussy about what he ate, at least, so he wasn't picky.
"The food does smell pretty great."
no subject
"Yeah, think we should split something? These cheese sticks look good...and the pie! Mm. So glad vegetarian food doesn't have to be boring---and thanks, by the way," she added, pleased.
