Part of the charm of being in a relationship isn't found in the amor, the grand shows and trapping. Contentment can just as easily come from the little things - or even the silly things - about being close to someone. At first, you're either naturally standoffish or wary or you're intent on impressing them and not looking like a total nerd. That's how the "getting to know you" process works, unfortunately. As you get more serious...you may actually get less so? Maybe you'll let them see your dorky humor, your weird laugh, your bizarre hobbies, your bed head. It could end up that the two of you have more fun playing video games together, Netflixing and chilling, baking cookies, or sword fighting (if you're in the olden days, where Netflix and cookies are scarce). And, really, you can't help that their clothes are so comfortable on you.

It's a good thing you guys are together. You really did gain a best bud.

Akira doesn't know too much about jewelry. He knows a few things about birthstones, and different styles. Those are things he has just picked up on knowing the difference between Ann and Taekemi's styles. If anything he is a keen observer and can pull off something as if he's meant it all along.

Hopefully, Ann doesn't notice as he's quietly looking over all the different things at the shop. It was either this or chocolate... ]

Fortunately for him, she's not paying too much attention to what he's looking at right now. Mostly, because she's spotted a magazine about volleyball that she's pretty sure a certain someone would appreciate. She drums her fingers against the cover for a moment, considering, before she wanders back over to the poor young man's side, still oblivious. ]

Hey, do you think I should get this for Shiho?

[ smells like summer time shenanigans need to happen.

He glances at the last necklace he had his eye on before turning his attention fully back to her. Akira's eyes dip down to the item in her hands. Volleyball. Honestly, he's still surprised that Shiho would still play the sport. It makes him smile though.

A real smile. Not one of his cocky or coy ones. ]

Does she plan on playing at her new school?

She hums, considering. She hasn't physically seen Shiho since that day on the rooftop, she's only been able to talk to her over the phone, text, or the occasional facetime chat if the other girl was feeling up to it. She knows that it's going to take a lot of time for Shiho to return to any semblance of normalcy, given what's happened to her. But she wants to try and help.

She smiles a little in return, finally turning her gaze from the magazine back up to Akira. ]

She's not sure if she can yet. She's still got a lot of physical [ And mental ] therapy to get through, but she said that she's thinking about it. She at least says she wants to start trying to brush up again, maybe consider playing in college...

[ Which still seems like a long, long time off, but. At least she's thinking of the future, instead of the past. ]

[ A nod. Still, he has that genuine smile as he lightly taps the magazine. ]

She still may follow the sport. It can't hurt. [ It would also show a silent support for Shiho's past time, regardless of what Kamoshida has done to it. ] Do you need help covering postage?

[ Akira has a nice smile -- she thinks he should smile more like that more often. She hopes that in the future, he has a lot of reasons to smile; that once everything is said and done, he'll finally have his justice and can relax a little bit more. ]

Exactly! I hope she can get back into it in the future. [ Shiho deserves the world, and she is pretty sure that she's not going to turn completely away from volleyball. His words make her smile again, and she shakes her head, gently looping one of her arms through his. ] That's really sweet! But no, I'm good, thank you though~!

[ It's a rare thing to get a smile like that to come out. Namely due to his experiences, but he has always been a quiet kid on top of it. ]

I have extra. [ A small shrug. He gets some more under the table from their local gun enthusiastic shop owner. ] ... Have you done a volleyball model shoot?

[ Rare though they may be, Ann both loves and appreciates them when they do make an appearance. ]

That's sweet, but you don't need to worry. [ To punctuate her point, she leans up on her toes to press a quick kiss against his cheek. ] A volleyball shoot? No, not yet. Why do you ask?

[ She's done bikini shoots with beach balls, but... not volleyballs, so it doesn't count. ]

It might be a fun project to do for Shiho-san. The group dressed as players supporting her.

[ It's just an idea. ]

[ Ann visibly lights up at Akira's idea, and she nods her head enthusiastically. ]

Hey, yeah! That's a great idea! I think she'd really appreciate that!

[ Akira, WHY ARE YOU SO SMART? ]
