It had been a few days since Tails wound back up in his world, back from his adventures in the alternate Equestria. (The Calice rumors seemed to have been false somehow.) Unfortunately, due to the way being suddenly teleported out of a strange alternate dimension or world usually worked, he was unable to say goodbye to his new friends before arriving back.

Still, it was nice to be a fox again, even if he kinda missed being a pony. At least he could be a human again if he wore his form changing item.

He was flying in his bi-plane when he noticed something strange, and decided to touch down nearby and see what was going on. It seemed smoke was dissipating from an area, and it looked like someone was in the middle of all of it. He started over to see what was going on, and make sure nobody was hurt.

Dash had been in Ponyville for a little over a month then she ended up back on her world for a day or two. It was weird, remembering Twilight's world and the people in it. Shame she didn't get to talk to Twilight herself though. She can't help but feel a little down about that.

She'd only shut her eyes for a second and when she opened them again, smoke was surrounding her. A cough escapes her. A hand quickly goes over her mouth while she swipes at the smoke with her other hand. It's an attempt to claw her way out of the smoke.

She's in her clothes and her rainbow hair would stick out like a sore thumb.

Getting closer, he noticed someone fanning the smoke... and he noticed the hair and clothes. Maybe it was a long shot, but he knew someone with both of those features somewhere else.

"...Dash? Is that you?"

A name, her name. Dash coughs again and squints to see... a two tailed orange fox.

"... Tails?" Didn't he say he was a fox? She knew that voice too.

Her voice cemented it for him. That was definitely her.

"Yeah, it's me." He thought for a moment. "...But how did you wind up here? Are you okay?"

Have a shrug. "I don't know, I only shut my eyes for a second then I was in the smoke."

"Please. A little bit of smoke isn't going to hurt me." She can't help but smirk a little at that, her confidence shinning through.

"Where the heck are we?"

If there was any doubt in his mind that wasn't Dash, her confidence definitely would've dissipated it in a flash.

"You're actually in my world."

Well, Dash would question it, but her world does have a portal that can be opened at will. It's not how she got here though. 'Sides, with her doubles and the other AJ's, Pinkie's and Fluttershy's, she learned that there was multiple worlds out there. Maybe it was the same for Tails too.

"Huh. Neat." She's out of the smoke now and arms cross over her chest. At least this beats being back in high school, now that part she did not miss.

It was a strange thing to consider. How did she wind up here? She certainly didn't seem to know, and Tails couldn't find any signs of a means to get here. The smoke could be a hint, but that could've also been any other thing.

He messes with a ring in his hand while he thinks, not really realizing he's doing so. "Well, I guess I should show you around, huh? It's pretty neat here. I can take you back to my lab for now, at least."

Dash is normally in the lead, only because she's taken to bouncing a soccer ball off her knee while she walks. It hadn't taken her that long to master that one.

"A ring?" The fidget does catch her eye.

"Oh, this thing?" He holds it up. "It's actually a ring that lets me change my form. I got it a long time ago. Mostly it just lets me become human while I wear it."

"The heck? Where did you get it?"

"Well, I told you I had been to a few places before I arrived in that alternate Equestria, right? This came from the first place I had been taken to. It was a school known as Smash Academy. Many of the students and teachers weren't human, so they had items and such that would allow you to become human while you wore them."

"Does it work here now?" She's just curious for the moment.

He nods. "You want a demonstration real quick? It also somehow holds the clothes I was last wearing as a human, so if I transform I'll probably be wearing the old Academy uniform."

Clothes, right. Dash almost face palmed at herself over that one. That would have been an awkward situation.

"Sure, let's see what it can do."

It would have been.

He slips on the ring, and in a flash of light, he grows taller, sporting a blonde hairdo, a T-Shirt and blue jeans. Pretty regular human clothes for a pretty regular-looking now-human.

"Huh. Not the Academy uniform..."
