Test Drive Meme

Rules:
1. Post with your character. Label header with character name and canon/OC, and grade level or staff position.
2. AU them into the setting! They've always lived as a normal human, and are currently attending the high school. Or are just now attending.
3. Write a prompt for them with the AU so that others can tag you back.
4. Tag around to others, make new friends/tag with old ones, shenanigans, shipping, skipping classes, you name it! The only limitation is something not normal your imagination!
5. Have fun!

Keep in mind that:
- The principal is referred to as Principal Not-Appearing-In-This-School, because he's never around.
- This is a high school, not a college, so everyone's at school at the same time, there's usually 3-4 different lunch breaks depending on where you are in the school at lunch period.
- Threads in this test drive meme CAN be carried over as 'canon' to the musebox itself! So long as all parties involved are okay with this.
- Keep in mind the usual RP rules; IC /=/ OOC, no metagaming, no godmodding, be cool, treat your fellow players with respect.

[Very small, not very social, and really into video games. Have you seen her gamerscore? It's like. Ridiculous. Not amazing grades, involved in theater tech, but otherwise while at school she mostly sits around and plays handheld games. Does still have a secret identity... as a surprisingly popular Let's Player on youtube. Not that she's going to admit that openly anytime soon - feel free to try to confront her about it, though. Or just say hi. Or challenge her to a pokemon battle you fool.]

[ After school one day, Kyouko arrives at the Winston household and knocks on the door. She vaguely considers going around to the back of the house and trying to figure out which window is Amy's, to throw some rocks at it or something. What is patience? ]

[Amy is taken a bit aback when she hears the knock on the door. Her parents are gone, as per usual, so... who the heck would come around? Maybe a package?

She pauses the weird platformer she's playing (she was told it's a pretty easy 1000 gamerscore, so sure okay) and heads to the door, checking through the peephole briefly before opening because holy crap it's...]

Kyouko! Hey!

[kuukai]

Hey. [ She grins, backpack hoisted over one shoulder, the hood on her jacket up from the light drizzle. ] Ya busy?

[amymethyst]

No, not really. Come in.

[It's not a filming or an editing day, luckily enough.

She steps out of the way of the door and holds it open.]

[ Kyouko steps in and kicks off her shoes. ] Jus' wanted ta say hey. Ya wanna play somethin'?

[amymethyst]

Sure. What're you up for? I have... a lot of games.

[Fairly rich absentee parents at least mean she has a decent allowance.]

Anythin'. Karts, Smash, dancin', Halo...

[ She takes in Amy's house, which is fairly impressive. ] Nice place.

Mario Kart works. Which one do you want to go with? I have... well I only have Double Dash and the new one, but they're both pretty good, so.

New one's got all th'new maps 'n' stuff? Still not usedta it. Le's do tha' one. [ She sets her backpack down. ] I brought DDR, too.

[amymethyst]

Oh, cool. We can do that after. [She ponders for a second. She's not technically supposed to bring games into the living room TV, but rules seemed a little less meaningful around Kyouko.] You wanna set up in my room or the living room? [Might as well let her make the choice.]

[kuukai]

[ She considered, looking around. ] Yer parents comin' home soon? [ The living room's almost too open. ] Le's do yer room.

[ Meeting people isn't Kyouko's strong suit, present company excluded. ]

[amymethyst]

Not really, but my room's probably safer. Mom comes home early sometimes.

[She heads back to where she was right before Kyouko arrived, gesturing to the other girl to follow her.]

[ Kyouko follows Amy through the unfamiliar house, peering down hallways at dark rooms and closed doors. She takes out her familiar Pocky box as she walks, chewing on a stick. ]

Whadda yer parents do?

My dad's a manager for some industrial computer company and my mom works at one of the banks downtown. I don't really get to see them too often.

[And they reach her room! Which is pretty nice - big bed, tv with multiple consoles, decent computer with a pro-quality microphone on it, dang, and most importantly: plenty of nerdy video game posters on the walls. Who actually puts the fold-out maps up? This nerd, apparently.]

[ Kyouko's mouth drops. Her family's not exactly well-off, so this is more consoles in one room than she's seen outside the occasional LAN party at school. She immediately gravitates towards the maps, examining one of Hyrule and one of Skyrim. ]

Huh. I see my mom 'n' dad all th'time. Dad's a pastor at our church an' Mom works from home.

[amymethyst]

Must be nice. [She definitely didn't take Kyouko for a pastor's kid, that's for sure.]

But, uh, yeah. Make yourself at home, I guess.

[And she sets to fiddling around with the consoles to get Mario Kart happening.]

[ Kyouko sits on the bed, looking at the posters. She sets her box of Pocky down next to Amy for her to take some if she wants. ]

S'okay. 'm not around the house tha' much anyway, durin' th'school year.

[amymethyst]

[Amy will absolutely grab a stick! Snacks are 10x better with friends, that's just scientific fact.]

Do you go somewhere after school, usually?

[kuukai]

Usually, uh... look for food 'n' stuff. Fer my sister. [ Her cheeks go scarlet. ] My mom too. They don'... uh, they don' take care of themselves like they should.

[ If Kyouko's worn clothes didn't give the impression that she wasn't the best-off of kids before, this was another clue. ]

[amymethyst]

Oh... oh, jeez, I. [A steadying breath.]

I know it's not a long-term fix, but I could send you home with something, if you wanted?

[kuukai]

Uh...

[ She ducks her head. ] I wasn'... wasn' really askin'...

[ Shit. How is Amy going to think of her now? As somebody to be pitied, probably. Dammit. ]

[amymethyst]

[She turns away from the consoles and smiles reassuringly.]

I know. But I want to help my friend, if she wants me to. I don't have a ton of experience with it, but I'm pretty sure that's what friends do.

[kuukai]

[ She's quiet for a moment. ]

Me either.

[ She gets up from her maps and flops down next to Amy. ] I guess... I guess I wouldn' say no, then.

We can raid the fridge before you go. But first... [She hits the final button to get the game going.] We've got karts to race.
