The Fluff Meme

Fluff Meme

R U L E S:
1. Post your character with their name and series in the subject line.
2. Others respond using RNG. Roll 1 - 15 to pick a scenario.
3. Some scenarios have options (A - C). Pick any one from them or roll 1 - 3.
4. If there is no option that fits for you, then feel free to make one up!
5. And there you go, instant fluff~

Scenarios:

1. A little help, please?

A) Lost - You got lost somewhere, like a school or office building or even an unfamiliar city street, and it doesn't look like you can figure out the way back by yourself.

B) Bike/Car Trouble - Your mode of transportation has a flat tire and your cellphone battery is dead while you're in a middle of nowhere.

C) You Shrimp! - You’re just a short fry who can’t even reach the top shelf for an item. Or even if you’re tall enough, you STILL can’t reach it without a second hand. Like maybe, a ball that got stuck on a basketball’s ring.

2. Babysitting/Pet sitting

Your neighbor is going out of town for a few days. They ask you to take care of the pet (or the baby) for the time being. But you don't have to worry! Your neighbor hired someone to help you. You can only hope that person is reliable...

3. Playful Fight - The two of you are having such a nice time together, doing whatever it is you’re up to. Suddenly, one of you just can’t help but start teasing a little. Like maybe pick up the nearest object available and throw it to the other person's face.

A) Food Fight - Didn’t your mom always told you not to play with food?

B) Water Gun/Water Balloon Fight - Well, that’s one way to cool down.

C) Pillow Fight - Grab a pillow or two. It’s game time.

D) Tickle Fight - Who cares about objects! Your true weapon is your god hand!!

4. Hand to Hold - Something terrible just happened. It’s terrible enough to make you cry or flip a table. You don’t want to be alone right now with these feelings.

A) Shoulder to cry on - You’re not done crying and it just hurts to cry on your own hands.

B) Woke up from a bad dream - Did you get rickrolled in your sleep? Did you hear the trololo man’s song within your dreams? Sit up and tell that person to hold you right now!

C) Just had a bad day - Everybody’s against you today. Flop down that couch and start sulking.

5. Stuck/Stranded

A) Stuck in an elevator - You had places to go! People to see! But that can’t happen due a technical difficulty while you were riding the elevator. Fortunately or unfortunately you’re not alone.

B) Stuck due to rain - Just your luck, you forgot your umbrella. Do you wait it out or try to make a run for it?

C) Deserted Island - Due to a miracle, you survived the boat crash and even drifted ashore! Yay! Except... where the hell are you now? And, oh god, is that a dead body next to you? Wait, it moved!

6. Sick/Injury

A) Stuck at Home - It’s your fault that you stayed out the rain too long. Or maybe you just overworked yourself too much. Be careful!

B) Infirmary - Looks like you got into a minor accident. Guess it was a good thing that someone was there to help you to the clinic.

C) Hospital - Still waiting on the results for that last medical exam? Maybe you're EXPECTING A BABY. Whatever it is, at least you've got some company to keep your occupied.

7. Confession

A) In Person - Nothing is more sincere than a direct confession!

B) Love Letter - You’re so traditional. Are you going to put heart stickers, too?

C) Phone call/Text/Email/IMs - Ahh, the wonders of technology. You can even say how you feel through emoticons. :D <3

8. Date

A) Dinner - Whether it’s in restaurant or take-out at home, enjoy a meal with that special someone.

B) Movie - Cozy up on the couch watching a DVD or head to the mall to watch latest blockbuster.

C) Picnic - Grab a basket, grab some food, and pray to god that whoever prepared it knows how to cook. Watch out for ants.

9. New Kid On The Block

You’re new to the neighborhood. Maybe you’re a new student or a newly hired worker. Maybe you even just literally moved in. Either way, you miss your old home and your friends. You’re so lonely. Aww. Don’t worry, maybe fate will be kind to you and reward you with a new friend very soon.

10. A little extra help with work or school

A) Study partner - The exams are coming up! You thought of calling up someone to study with, hoping that it will increase your focus and all those other benefits.

B) Homework pain - You have an extremely difficult homework. You’re at the point where you want to throw it out the window.

C) Overtime at work - It’s shit-o-clock. You’ll never finish these on time. You might as well pull off an overnight at the office, unless a kind soul decides to assist you with work.

11. Hanging Out

A) Shopping - Maybe your victim date doesn't mind shopping with you. Maybe they did. Well, they're here now and they're not getting away from you that easily!

B) At a coffee shop - Maybe it's your first date and the two of you are testing the waters, maybe you bumped into each other. Whatever the reason was, there's nothing like two people just talking over a cup of coffee.

C) At a playground - Nothing wrong with reliving your childhood here. Last one to the swings is a rotten egg!

12. Somebody Save Me!

A) Drowning - Wow, you didn’t even bother checking if your life ring had enough air in it?

B) FIRE! - Good job. You burnt your kitchen and now there’s a forest fire in there.

C) Defending your honor - How dare you forget your rape whistle at home! Maybe screaming will send someone to your aid! KYAAA~

13. Couldn't Make It To Bed

A) Drunk passed out - Looks like you had too much to drink. Think you can still make it to bed by yourself?

B) Slept on the Couch - You’re ridiculously tired and that short nap on the couch became longer than you planned.

C) Fell asleep in the car - Not exactly the ideal place to fall asleep in (carbon monoxide poisoning and all). Luckily, someone’s coming to your rescue.

14. Outdoorsy stuff

A) Stargazing - Maybe you two just enjoy the sight of the sea of stars. Maybe either of you believe in the legend of the wishing star. Either way, the evening sky is shining down for the two of you.

B) Camping - Screw the city! Nature is truly the best! Grab your partner or be dragged off by them and explore to your heart’s content. Watch out for snakes or bears.

C) Field Trip - It’s a class field trip or a work’s group outing! What will you do? Explore every nook of the location you’re in? Stay in your room and play board games? Sneak out each other’s rooms to meet up tonight?

15. Wild card - Roll again, pick anything you’d like, or create your own scene.

[He chuckled a little, shaking his head some.]

I'll uh, be sure to keep that in mind.
richestduck: (I'M BACK)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Scrooge reaches out with the wooden spoon to flip the two pieces of bread, allowing the other side to fry in the fat leftover from the sausages.]

It's nice being out here. Been a long time since I did anything like proper camping. [He glances up at the stars and the full moon above.] And it's the perfect night to do this.
goingbythebook: (It's alright. Let's go.)

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
[He smiled, taking a moment to breathe in the ambiance. The crispness in the air, the sound of the crackling fire, the food cooking layered on top of the smell of burning wood, the gentle rustle of the breeze, and somewhere far off, crickets chirping and the cry of some night bird.]

It's the perfect night, I agree completely.

[He looked up, smiling some.]

Thanks for doing this with me, Uncle Scrooge.
richestduck: (Fond Smile)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm happy you asked me! This was a great idea and a perfect opportunity to get out of the house for a while. I should honestly be thanking you, lad.

[Okay, so he would've liked to be sleeping in his own bed tonight, but he's not going to complain. There is something nice about sleeping rough under the stars. Plus it made Huey happy which was a significant bonus.]

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
[He ducked his head some at that, a sheepish smile on his face.]

Aww, the question wasn't that big of a deal. I just... thought it'd be nice to camp out in the yard, and I didn't want to do it by myself.
richestduck: (I'M BACK)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'm still allowed to appreciate it.

[Scrooge expertly scoops up one of the bread slices, balancing it on the spoon like a spatula.]

Here you are. "Dessert".
goingbythebook: (You really mean it?)

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
[He eagerly held his plate out for the delivery of the bread.]

Ooh, I'm looking forward to this one.
richestduck: (Tipping the hat)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Scrooge chuckles as he deposits the fried bread on the plate before retrieving his own.]

I used to make fried bread a lot when I wanted a treat and I had some leftover fat or lard. Not the healthiest thing in the world, but better than nothing at all.
goingbythebook: (Look at the rings!)

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed! And those extra calories in a pinch would make it worth quite a lot if this were, say, a lost expedition on a mountainside.

Of course it isn't and it's strictly a treat, but...

[He snickered, and then set the eating.]
richestduck: (Fond Smile)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Aye, that it would.

[Honestly, the way Huey could rattle off facts that weren't always useful was amusing in its own way. True, it might annoy the boy's brothers, but it just meant that Huey wanted to know more about the world.]

[Just like his mother had.]

[He mentally shakes away the thought, taking a bite of his own bread.]

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
So, I'm dying to know. [At least now that the other conversation tracks had played out of the way.] How did you guys survive the sonic blast of Krakatoa? It's said that main blast had the force of 200 megatons of TNT, and could be heard up to 100 miles away. Anyone within 10 miles would've gone deaf! And then there's the after-effects like the tsunamis.

What really happened that day?
richestduck: (Let me see...)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that depends on how much you want to know: Do you want the whole story of why I was in the area or just the eruption?
goingbythebook: (You really mean it?)

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
[He dithered on that a moment or two, before looking up.]

Explosion first? Then the whole story!

[Campfire tales with Uncle Scrooge aka the best thing ever.]
richestduck: (Hat Covering Eyes)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
All right then.

[Scrooge takes a bite of his bread as he collects his thoughts.]

This whole thing took place after I was a cowboy on the Chisholm Trail. I had a pair of bulls I bought as calves for a whole year's pay and raised them to sell to the sultan of Djokja. I actually boarded the Cutty Sark in Australia on its way up the Sundra Strait. However, the sea was acting mighty peculiar at the time: When I went down into the hold due to the bulls causing a fuss, I heard underwater thunder. Plus there was a breaker in the middle of the ocean. At the time, I didn't know what was going on.

Since you're wanting the story of the explosion itself, I suppose I'll skip over the part where the bulls were stolen when I was demonstrating how well they could race for the sultan. (Something they'd never done before, but they'd been doing fine.) Those cattle-rustling cheaters took the bulls by steamship, and I followed with the Cutty Sark and her crew, temporarily taking the helm. Unfortunately, the wind died on us, and it looked like we'd lose the steamship.

[Scrooge's eyes grow distant with memory.]

We were about 37 kilometers off the coast of Krakatoa--which was behind us--when there was this very bright light. When we all turned to look for the source, we saw the explosion. I never saw anything like it until the footage from Hiroshima in 1945 was released. But the thing I remember the most about the explosion was the silence.

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
[He listened, completely enamored with the story, as always perfectly able to picture it as Scrooge described.

At the last word, he drew in a long breath.]

The silence?
richestduck: (Oh dear)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Sound doesn't move as fast as light--only 1100 kilometers per hour--and we were thirty-seven kilometers from the explosion. Which meant we had about two minutes before the sound of the explosion reached us. The best we could do was stuff our ears with Australian wool that was in the hold and hope for the best. Fortunately, it was, but that concussive force shook us so much I thought that the ship's hull would splinter.

And after the shockwave was the gases. We had a two-minute gap for those, too. Most of the crew went below deck to escape them. Those of us still on deck hid under some wet sail material. Thankfully that was enough.

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! The difference between the speed of light and the speed of sound, I don't know why I didn't think of it.

[He tried to envision the situation but, as much as he could picture the rest of the story, a light- a sound -that big was unfathomable.]

Wow... I would've been terrified out of my boots if I saw that happen, especially at just a couple years older than I am now.

[Suddenly the sort of life Scrooge had led seemed a lot more real, putting it in age terms like that.]
richestduck: (Awkward Smile)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Not gonna lie: It was absolutely terrifying but I didn't have enough time to start panicking until after it was all over. I had to get those poor bulls back and not just because I'd be financially ruined if I lost them. Like I said before, I'd raised them since they were calves.

[They were practically his own children at that point.]

Though I will admit that after everything settled down, I about had a panic attack over it. I had nightmares about that explosion for months.
goingbythebook: (Family truly is the greatest adventure)

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I bet I would too.

[He stirred a bit of the remaining food around his plate, staring down at it thoughtfully. Then he sighed a bit.]

When I was growing up... [Brief half-laugh; still plenty of "growing" to do] I absolutely fell in love with stories about you. The adventures you'd gone on, and the myths you'd encountered. The myths you yourself were. I was beyond excited to finally get the chance to meet you, and get all the truths behind everything I'd been hearing.

[Looking up at Scrooge, there was a smile on his face.]

It's been... absolutely incredible, being able to hear firsthand about your experiences. Heck, getting to live a few, too! I just know that someday, when I have kids- or nephews or nieces -of my own, I'm going to have so many amazing stories of my own to tell them.

But you know what? I think my favorite part has getting to know... you. It's not many people that Scrooge McDuck would admit having been afraid to, but you told me. You've told me a lot of things like that, and... I dunno, I like it. Getting to know the part of you that's a person too, and not just a legend.
richestduck: (Reminiscing - Happy)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Scrooge is quiet for a long moment, surprised at what the lad told him.]

[Then a soft smile pulls across his beak.]

Most people actually don't like listening to me telling my old stories. They've heard them all before from unofficial biographies and people spreading them by word of mouth. It's good to be able to tell them myself and have someone listen to them.

[Because they're his stories, no one else's. And the people retelling them will get facts wrong or leave out important bits. Or worse, they make the tales so fantastic that no one believes them or they feel let down when they hear the real stories.]

So thank you, Huey, for letting an old man talk.

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, Uncle Scrooge. I'll always be up to hearing more stuff about you.

[He hasn't been the best about showing that, but he's already working on other things- like treating his siblings better -and dammit he can work on that too.]
richestduck: (Fond Smile)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Scrooge's smile turns fond.]

I wouldn't mind hearing some stories about you and your brothers, too.

[He missed out on so much in ten years. Those are years he'll never get to experience with them.]
goingbythebook: (Check this out!)

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
[He chuckled, looking down rather shyly this time.]

I don't know how much there is to tell. Before we came here we were just a normal, boring family.

[Then he nodded and looked up with a smile.]

But I know what you mean, and sure. I... like the idea of a story exchange kinda thing.
richestduck: (Hat Covering Eyes)

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-04-28 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Not every great adventure is grand on the outside. [Scrooge's eyes grow distant.] I used to tell your mother that she was in for a real corker of an adventure when she was preparing to lay your eggs.
goingbythebook: (Little adoration)

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-04-28 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[The abrupt mention of Della caught him a little by surprise, but to his credit he kept the smile on his face, even if there was a sad edge to it now.]

Yeah... I could see that.
