[PSL - The Cupid In Pink] [High School AU]

[Tails got his lunch, sat at the table with two of his friends, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. Lately, for some odd reason, he had been finding himself looking over at her, and sometimes noticing that she's looking over at him. He smiled, she smiled, nothing seemed odd about it. But for some really peculiar reason, looking at her made his heart start beating faster, and sometimes his cheeks burned a little as well. He didn't really understand it, so he wrote it off as just being happy to be her friend. And maybe that's just how she felt back, right?

Well, it looked like a certain cupid in pink had a job to do that day, because this had been going on for quite some time now...]

Yeah, it'd be easy peasy! Maud does it when she's holed up at the library on campus all the time! I just need to be at the door to get it!

Oh...I didn't know the library allows that...

[Tails wouldn't have guessed that, either.]

Hey, if it makes it easier to study and spend as much time as we need, I'm all for it.

Yeah, as long as we eat it in one of the study rooms and keep the books clean, we should be fine!

[Fluttershy nodded.] Okay...that would be a good idea, and it'd save some time...

[And he's back to looking up the stuff Shy asked him to.]

[She's already standing up and pulling out her phone, a HUGE grin on her face.]

Sweet~! So one extra-large works, hold the meat on one side! And I'll tell 'em to have it here about an hour later! Be right back, you two~!

[And she's off to place that call somewhere she WON'T get shushed by the librarian.]

Alright!

[He starts looking at the page again.] Huh. Is that everything? [He flips the page over, and then just. Stares. A few seconds later, he turns red, and slaps the paper back down right-side up, attempting to get back to work on his laptop.

Hopefully Fluttershy isn't noticing this...]

[She wasn't at first. But when he slaps the paper down she jumps a bit, glancing up at him, blinking.]

...Are...Are you okay? Your face is all red...

Y-Yeah. T-Totally fine! [Totally not fine. He turns to her and tries to grin... but then he quickly turns away again. What was with the sudden embarrassment...?

Without thinking about it, he took his hand off the paper and quickly kept looking things up on his laptop.]

[Fluttershy couldn't help staring a bit at him. That was very strange...

Still, she didn't say much as she picked up the paper to look at the outline again, needing to write things down. It also occurred to her that she hadn't checked the back to see if there was more. So she flipped it over -

...And stared at the sheet, her eyes widening.]

[He looked over to her, and his face was back to red. For a split second, he thought of snatching the paper away - but for one, that'd be rude... and for another, it was too late. Whatever Pinkie was trying to say there got through to Fluttershy as well as him.

... He wasn't sure he understood what the meaning of it all was. But he certainly was still staring her way now.]

[Feeling her own cheeks heat up, Fluttershy carefully placed the paper down.]

U-Um...

[There was no point of asking if he'd seen that, because it was obvious he had. The question is, what did it even mean?]

[Aaaaand here comes the artist herself, VERY content that the order had been placed. Heck, she felt SO good that she even ordered some breadsticks, soda, and some of those molten lava cakes!]

Hey, guys~! So, how's the thesis coming along~?

[PINKIE.

Anyhow, she apparently has walked into the room in time to see these two just staring at each other... probably both in confusion and embarrassment.

In Tails' case, it was definitely both.]

[Pinkie's voice at least breaks the spell on Fluttershy, who quickly flips the paper over.]

F-Fine...! I-It's....It's fine...

[She plops down in her seat again.]

Awesome! So what've we got so far?

W-Well... U-Um... U-uh.... [Oh, cripes. Better figure out something quick.

... Aha! He turns the laptop to face Pinkie, so he can show her what he's found so far.] I-it's not a lot, but it's a good start, a-at least.

M-Mm...a-and we, um...still need to find a bit more...information...

[She grins, but it seems like she's just happy about the paper's progress.]

Awesome~! And the pizza should be here in an hour!

Soooo, what kind of info do we need?

W-Well, um... [Don't bring up the back of the paper.] W-we still need to look up, um... some... stuff... [He quickly turns the laptop back to him, and grabs the paper, trying to get some idea. Help, Fluttershy!]

R-Right...um...themes of the book, and...things like that...

[She's trying.]

Huh, THAT'S weird, I thought I wrote some on that sheet Tails is avoiding looking at!

[Huh. Is she aware or not?]

But yeah, it's a HUGE paper, so can't have too many themes to choose from!

Y-You did! I was looking some of it up before, remember?

Just... um... looking at more, I guess?

M-Mm....w-we'll need to um...pick a theme, and...f-focus on that, I guess...
